Living allowance for children


Anyone who meets the definition of a child who is entitled to dependents’ benefits or for whom supplemental dependents’ benefits are being paid is eligible for a living allowance after completing 8 years of compulsory education if the majority of his time (at least 24 hours per week) is dedicated to secondary education, vocational training, studies in university or college.

Payment of the living allowance for the child is dependent on his/her income (that is not from work) and the income of his/her birth parent who receives the benefits on the child’s behalf.

Submitting a claim for living allowance

Prior to the start of the school year, the National Insurance Institute sends claim forms for living allowance to those who receive the benefits (in Hebrew).
The form shall be completed and sent with required documents by one of the following ways:

You must attach to the claim an authorization from the school about the child's studies as well as income certificates.
